Case Management

When you or someone you love is dependent on alcohol, prescription medication, or illegal drugs, it can be painful for everyone involved. At the Kentuckiana Center for Addiction Medicine, we know that recovery is strenuous on the person addicted and on their loved ones. Most people who are addicted understand that their dependence on substance abuse is harming them and those they love. But often understanding it cannot override their need for the substance. That need can seem so intense, so inflexible, that it overcomes their desire to recover and their feelings for their loved ones. This process can lead to feelings of loneliness, vulnerability, and fear. They’ve let down the people they care about, and in many cases feel they have nowhere else to turn. They know that they’ve allowed their drug use to result in saying and doing things that they would never have otherwise.

When you’ve reached this point, you must seek professional help. Our professional treatment teams can devise a treatment plan that addresses all of your individual needs and goals to ensure that you succeed in your recovery. Our addiction monitoring services are designed to help you succeed not only in becoming sober but in staying sober for the rest of your life.

What Is an Addiction Monitoring Program?

During our patients’ treatment programs, we document their progress at every step of the way. We understand that addiction case management doesn’t end when a patient is sober for 24 hours or 7 days. Long term case management is often necessary for real long-term recovery. Additionally, many of our clients require drug probation reporting or a drug testing monitoring program for legal or professional reasons, which we are happy to provide. Some of the services available include:

  • Unsystematic testing (breathalyzer, urine tests, etc.).
  • Crisis management for addiction issues.
  • Liaison with legal teams, law enforcement, and employers, to include referrals and court letters.
  • Collaboration with treatment program staff during treatment and after discharge from inpatient or outpatient services.
  • Continual monitoring and evaluation of addiction and comorbid disorders.
Addiction monitoring programs and case management services are valuable tools for both our patients and their loved ones. They can also be instrumental in helping our patients achieve their goals legally or in their professional lives. They can help patients stay on track as they recover. Addiction monitoring is not just a way of “keeping tabs” on a patient. It is an essential part of their treatment program, classified as aftercare. Aftercare can include further counseling for addiction-related issues, follow-ups, recovery coaching, and other services. Aftercare is designed to help the patient remain active in their recovery and less likely to relapse.

We use a selection of processes to assess progress, evaluate symptoms, and educate our patients on how to continue to make informed, positive decisions in their lives and concerning their recovery. We want to be sure that our patients don’t just stop using drugs but stay in recovery. To that end, we provide them and their loved ones with a full range of case management resources. We accomplish this by assigning every patient a case manager who can work with them one on one. The case manager is someone to whom they can communicate their needs, someone who can provide them with feedback and various options for further treatment and support.

Each client receives a tailor-made recovery plan and can give their case manager feedback about what is (or is not) working in their favor. That’s one of many reasons our clients are so successful in their recoveries.

Is Extended Monitoring Important?

Whether you’ve recently completed an intensive treatment program, or you know someone who has, you understand how vital it is to prevent a relapse. You also know how important it is to address it swiftly if a relapse does occur. Our long-term case management services mean that we’re always there for you if you need us. Professional, compassionate monitoring services can be a crucial aspect of helping clients succeed in their recovery. They can be instrumental in preventing the triggers that result in relapses, and they can be useful tools for coping with a relapse if it does occur.

Drug Probation Reporting

Often, clients are placed in a community supervision program that is court-ordered, or they are released from incarceration provided they fulfill certain conditions of their release. The Kentuckiana Center for Addiction Medicine can help patients meet these requirements in a supervised, professional, caring environment. It has been demonstrated time and time again that those who have not undergone expert substance abuse treatment and were not monitored in their recovery are more likely to relapse and return to the criminal behaviors that resulted in their being disciplined to begin with. That’s why we offer a consistent, compassionate monitoring program that, in combination with counseling and other treatment methods, provides our patients with the motivation they need to refrain from using substances.

Case Management Benefits

Case management isn’t just about checking off requirements for the court or a parole officer. It can also positively influence our patients’ recoveries. By coordinating a system of care that addresses all aspects of a patient’s life, we ensure that each patient gets the support and structure they need during the entire course of their treatment. We only hire case managers that are highly trained, very experienced, professional, and compassionate. Their detailed understanding of the client’s treatment program ensures that they are qualified to give our patients the advice they need to stay drug and alcohol free. Some of the benefits of case management include:

  • Helping clients get used to a routine, which helps them learn to keep appointments and fulfill their other obligations.
  • Helping patients learn about self-management and develop the skills necessary to achieve self-management.
  • Helping reduce resentment between the patient and their loved ones while simultaneously providing them with reassurance.
  • Ensures the highest standard of care and commitment for every patient.
